Experiments to Enhance Chemistry in the High School Science Curriculum

The importance of learning the costs and the trade-offs of decisions cannot be understated. For every action there is a reaction. As students complete the modeling and comparing of fossil fuel and biofuel combustion, they will become enlightened as to carbon footprints, cost and effect of various fuels.

What is released when the three fuels burn? How do they calculate the amount of energy released? These can be taught with the printed word and the module that accompanies it. It will make chemistry real. A high school science curriculum exciting for every student in the class.
Often, the presence of positive and negative ions are used to identify inorganic substances. The science kits that delve into this will allow students to learn to identify the common ions in various elements and compositions such as sulfite, carbonate, barium and others. The students will stage their own experiments and test on four unknown substances. The safe and unmistakable results will be an aid to further their high school science curriculum.

Each student will receive a thorough introduction to acids and bases. They will also collect and test hydrogen. Along with the science modules that teach the differences of acids and bases, they will learn neutralization of each with various indicators. This is part of what makes a science curriculum a well-rounded experience.

Have any of your students determined the size of a molecule? With the size of molecules experiment can do that. The student will isolate a layer of molecules and learn the proper way to calculate the volume of the substance even when the area is unknown.

This is an intense high school science curriculum. It will allow the student to learn about things that involve their everyday lives. Things that they did not know about will be brought to the level of their cognitive thinking. By learning what decisions to make and how to explore the various aspects of molecules, energy and environmental changes, they can decide it they want to expand on this knowledge as they progress through their educational process.
